I viewed the 2012 Venus transit with my sister-in-law from the summit of Mt. Lemmon at the Sky Center Observatory, along with a small group of like-minded enthusiasts. We viewed the event through just past mid-transit as the sun set. For the most part we watched on a large monitor screen receiving a video feed from a telescope set up outside. However we had access to several Hydrogen-alpha filtered telescopes for individual viewing. Once the sun and Venus had set we had access to the 61″ telescope through which we saw Saturn, Mars, several galaxies, and nebula.
