Waxing Crescent Moon Lines Up With Venus and Jupiter

Saturday September 3rd the very thin 2.5-day young waxing crescent Moon will be part of a planetary line-up over the western horizon that includes Venus and Jupiter.
The Moon sets after the two planets so as the sky darkens use binoculars or a low-power eyepiece to see the star Porrima, a 3rd magnitude star in the constellation Virgo the Harvest Maiden. Porrima is about 2o from the crescent Moon as shown in this simulated view through 10×50 binoculars.
