Waxing Crescent Moon Near Spica

   Sunday evening, August 7th and Monday evening August 8th look toward the southwestern horizon at sunset or a little after for the waxing crescent Moon to be about 6o from the bluish-star Spica in the constellation of Virgo the Harvest Maiden.
aug7-8-virgo   From the classical depiction of Virgo the star Spica is held by Virgo in her left hand, and the star is represented as a bundle of harvested grasses.
