Sorry about the title – I couldn’t resist it. Yes I know the planet Uranus has been the butt of many jokes! But nonetheless the 23-day old waning crescent Moon is within about 3o from Uranus. Both will fit within the field of view of binoculars however the big difference in apparent magnitudes (Moon: -14.0; Uranus: 6.0) and the closeness of the two will make seeing Uranus nearly impossible. If you can see 5th Zeta Piscium then you are at least looking where Uranus is – and I don’t mean behind you!!
